As I said on my show last night, I think this initiative is the most important thing to happen to the Blues in the UK in the last 30 years. Well done to you and your colleagues.

The London band, who have just released their fifth album Cut Loose to great acclaim, have been nominated for Best Band, Best Bassist and Best Drummer. To vote for the Mustangs visit http://www.britishbluesawards.com and go to Vote!

The winners will be announced at the Newark Blues Festival on Saturday September 11th. The Mustangs will be closing the Festival on the following day at 4.30pm.

Because I´ m very interested in blues music, I´ m very pleased with the existence of the British blues award.

I think it is neglected in the music industry a little bit. Many wonderful blues musicians are almost unknown.

In May this year I saw Oli Brown and in October last year I saw Joanne Shaw Taylor.

Both are outstanding guitarists and also vocals. So I have voted for both.
